Trans and gender diverse people were, rightly, named as a priority population in the Eighth National HIV Strategy 2018-2022. This strategy has the aim of ‘virtually eliminating’ HIV transmission in Australia during ‘the life of the strategy’. Understanding the specific sexual health needs of trans and gender diverse people, as well as experiences in seeking healthcare services, is a critical issue to be addressed if Australia is to meet this ambitious goal.
