The AIDS Trust of Australia raises awareness and distributes grants for care, support, education and research.

AIVL The Australian Injecting & Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL) is the national peak organisation representing state and territory drug user groups.

ASHM The Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine.

Australian Government Department of Health

The Australian Health Promotion Association is the peak health promotion body for people interested or involved in the practice, research and study of health promotion.

Australian Human Rights Commission

ARCSHS Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health & Society.

CSRH Centre for Social Research in Health.

Consumers Health Forum is the national peak organisation providing a voice for all health consumers. The site has a variety of publications on health consumer rights and some useful links.

Diversity Health Institute is a central access point for information on multicultural health in Australia and contains a number of databases for easy searching, including services, resources, research, training and events.

Hepatitis Australia is the national peak organisation for state and territory hepatitis councils and provides information on all types of viral hepatitis.

Health Translations Directory is an initiative of the Victorian Department of Human Services providing links to multilingual health resources.

HIV/AIDS Positive Stories hosts personal stories, images, message board for people living with HIV.

National Association of People With HIV Australia (NAPWHA) is the national peak organisation for Australian people with HIV organisations.

People With Disabilities Australia (PWDA) is the national peak disability rights and advocacy organisation. Services include a disability services and neglect hotline, a disability
complaints service, and a newsletter.

The Kirby Institute for infection and immunity in society HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research.

The Scarlet Alliance, Australian Sex Workers Association is the national peak body for Australian sex worker organisations.

World AIDS Day Every year on December 1, this site lists World AIDS Day events around Australia and includes information about the history of the epidemic.

YEAH Aware provides youth peer education and information on HIV and STIs.

State-based Organisations

Links to AIDS Councils, people living with HIV, sex worker organisations and other groups in your state or territory.

These organisations can provide information and resources and can also refer you to local HIV groups, HIV testing clinics etc. Many of these groups welcome volunteer assistance.

Australian Capital Territory

AIDS Action Council of the ACT (includes programs for gay men, people with HIV, sex workers and people who use drugs).

New South Wales

ADAHPS is a state-wide service that assists in the care and management of people with HIV and complex needs.

ACON is a non-government organisation based in the gay & lesbian communities and provides services to members of those communities including Indigenous people,
transgender people and injecting drug users, to all people with HIV and to sex workers. Services include information, HIV support, referral, housing and legal advice and a women’s project.

Albion Street Centre is a facility of NSW Health South Eastern Sydney Local Health District deals exclusively with HIV & AIDS and hepatitis C clinical management, counselling,
research, prevention and education. The centre provides free HIV testing, services for people with HIV and has an extensive library.

Bobby Goldsmith Foundation is Australia’s oldest HIV charity providing practical, emotional and financial support to people with HIV. Services include capacity building workshops, financial counselling, casework providing referral and information on services, access to funded antiretrovirals for those on low incomes and other avenues of financial assistance.

HIV/AIDS Legal Centre (HALC) is a community legal centre that specialises in HIV related legal matters.

Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service is a multilingual website with HIV & AIDS and hepatitis information in a number of community languages.

Positive Life NSW is a people with HIV organisation that provides information and targeted referrals for people with HIV.

PozHet is a statewide NSW funded service that provides HIV & AIDS resources for positive women, positive men, their partners & family members.

Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) NSW

Sydney Sexual Health Centre is a clinical, educational, research, and community-oriented centre offering specialist expertise in Sexually Transmissible Infections (STI) and
HIV.

The Gender Centre Inc. services the transgender and gender diverse community.

Queensland

Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ) provides HIV & AIDS, hepatitis and sexual health programs for education, information and referrals
on these topics to people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Diverse Voices is a Queensland based non-profit organisation with a focus on the well being of LGBTI people.
