The AIDS Trust of Australia This national AIDS Charity raises awareness and distributes grants for care, support, education and research.

AIVL The Australian Intravenous League and National Hepatitis C Program. Peak organisation representing State and Territory drug user groups.

Anwernekenhe National HIV Alliance (ANA – previously the Anwernekenhe National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HIV/AIDS Alliance).

ASHM The Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine.

The Australian Hepatitis Council website provides information on viral hepatitis to people with hepatitis C, their families, friends and carers.

The Australian Health Promotion Association The peak health promotion body for people interested or involved in the practice, research and study of health promotion.

ARCSHS Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health & Society.

CSRH National Centre for Social Research in Health.

Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing

Consumers’ Health Forum The national peak organisation providing a voice for all health consumers. The site has a variety of publications on health consumer rights and some useful links.

Diversity Health Institute Clearinghouse is a central access point for information on multicultural health in Australia and contains a number of databases for easy searching, including services, resources, research, training and events.

Health Translations Directory This directory, an initiative of the Victorian Department of Human Services, links to multilingual health resources.

HIV/AIDS Positive Stories Personal stories, images, message board for people living with HIV

HREOC Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission.

Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service This is a multilingual website with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis information in a number of community languages.

National Association of People With HIV Australia

The Kirby Institute for infection and immunity in society – HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research.

Red Aware Youth peer education and information on HIV and STIs
The Scarlet Alliance Peak body for sex worker organisations.

World AIDS Day Every year on December 1. This site lists World AIDS Day events around Australia and includes information about the history of the epidemic.

State-based Organisations

Links to AIDS Councils, people living with HIV/AIDS, sex worker organisations and other groups in your state or territory.

These organisations can provide information and resources and can also refer you to local HIV groups, HIV testing clinics etc. Many of these groups welcome volunteer assistance.

Australian Capital Territory

AIDS Action Council of the ACT (includes programs for gay men, people with HIV, sex workers and people who use drugs).

New South Wales

ADAHPS ADAHPS is a state-wide service that assists in the care and management of people with HIV and complex needs. Typically, clients may have a diagnosis
of AIDS Dementia or a psychiatric illness complicating their HIV infection.

ACON ACON is a non-government organisation based in the gay & lesbian communities and providing services to members of those communities including Indigenous people,
transgender people and injecting drug users, to all people living with HIV and to sex workers. Services include information, HIV support, referral, housing and legal advice, and a women’s project.

Albion Street Centre The Albion Street Centre, a facility of South East Health deals exclusively with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C clinical management, counselling,
research, prevention and education. The Centre provides free HIV testing, services for people with HIV and has an extensive library.

Bobby Goldsmith Foundation Australia’s oldest HIV charity providing practical, emotional and financial support to PLHIV. Services include capacity building workshops, financial
counselling, casework providing referral and information on services, access to funded ARV’s for those on low incomes and other avenues of financial assistance.

Heterosexual HIV/AIDS Service (PozHet) a statewide NSW funded service that provides HIV/AIDS resources for positive women, positive men, their partners & family members.

HIV/AIDS Legal Centre (HALC) is a community legal centre that specialises in HIV related legal matters.

Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service This is a multilingual website with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis information in a number of community languages.

Positive Life NSW

People With Disabilities (NSW) Inc. (PWD) A state peak disability rights and advocacy organisation. Services include a Disability Services and Neglect Hotline, a Disability
Complaints Service, and a newsletter.

Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) NSW

Sydney Sexual Health Centre A clinical, educational, research, and community-oriented centre offering specialist expertise in Sexually Transmissible Infections (STI) and
HIV.
