Advocacy alerts
AFAO has a long history of advocacy work in both the Australian and regional HIV responses. AFAO continually advocates for the increased investment in community responses to HIV at the domestic, regional and global levels.
Our advocacy focus is on increasing the meaningful participation of most affected communities. We aim to influence decision makers for more effective HIV policy, research and action in Australia and the Asia and Pacific regions. AFAO does this through its advocacy capacity development programs with community based organisations in Asia and the Pacific; lobbying government; donors and UN agencies.
To assist in our work, AFAO Advocacy Alerts provide brief information on critical HIV issues requiring immediate action, especially those that affect the lives of PLHIV and people from most affected communities. At critical moments, as specific HIV and AIDS issues emerge, AFAO will brief its members, partners and supporters to ask them to communicate their positions to decision makers using these alerts.
We encourage you to help AFAO shape the community response to HIV and AIDS.
