National HIV/AIDS Strategies.
AFAO develops its program of work in accordance with priorities identified in Australia's National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
Australian federal, state and territory Health Ministers have unanimously endorsed The Sixth National HIV Strategy, together with another four new strategies that aim to reduce the transmission of blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs), and the morbidity, mortality and personal and social impacts they cause.
These national strategies were developed with significant contributions from community stakeholders, research organisations, medical professionals and state and territory health departments. The five strategies are:
