The Advocacy Guide to the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Statement on HIV/AIDS
Thirty three Ministers from 26 Countries of the Asia-Pacific region met in Melbourne on 9 October 2001, at the Asia Pacific Ministerial Meeting which coincided with the 6th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific. The "Ministerial Statement” that resulted from the meeting is intended to contribute to a positive response to the HIV epidemic in the region. The Advocacy Guide to the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Statement on HIV/AIDS is an advocacy guide on how this statement might be used to lobby regional governments for a stronger and more effective response to HIV/AIDS.

Asia-Pacific Global Fund Brief The International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) in June 2002 produced a briefing paper entitled "Global Fund Update: Information on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS" to inform NGOs and CBOs of the latest news on the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.As a member of the Council of Representatives for the Asia Pacific Council of AIDS Service Organisations (APCASO), AFAO has produced a briefing note specifically for Asia-Pacific NGOs and CBOs which provides a summary of the key points in the ICASO document that are relevant for this region, and other information to help NGOs and CBOs consider how to be involved in the Fund.
UNGASS Declaration - AFAO's viewThe 16 page "Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS" was adopted by consensus by the 189 country UN General Assembly, the first universal approach to addressing HIV/AIDS on a global scale. This section includes AFAO’s press release and a report by AFAO President Bill Whittaker on a community perspective of UNGASS.
