    2012 is likely to be a time of great transition in the world of IV microbicides and chemoprevention technologies. Depending on the results of a small number of key efficacy trials currently underway, there will be a new emphasis on coitally dependant vaginal microbicides, or a move towards other forms of delivery, including oral administration of agents to prevent the acquisition of HIV infection.

    M2012 will be a global forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest information on microbicides and oral pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention and their interface with other prevention strategies. There will be a strong emphasis on the role of community in both research and implementation of scientific findings.
