Volunteering
Interested in helping out?
AFAO does not usually require volunteers, however there are many other opportunities to make a difference. For example you can:
- Help raise money for an HIV charity such as the AIDS Trust or the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation;
- Participate in social research or a clinical trial;
- Pack safe-sex packs at an AIDS Council;
- Work overseas - our jobs page sometimes features volunteer positions in developing countries.
Many AIDS Councils, People Living with HIV and other HIV organisations rely on volunteers. Look on our links page for organisations in your state or territory that might have some interesting jobs for volunteers.
There are a number of organisations which place volunteers in HIV/sexual health programs in developing countries. Check out:
- Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD)
- Restless Development - the youth lead development agency
The AusAID website also has useful info and links about volunteering overseas
